Dr.Drew Oliphant

 Dr. Drew Oliphant graduated from The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1987. After Undergraduate studies at Selilirk College, University Of Victoria and University Of British Columbia, in 1997, he became A Fellow Of The Chiropractic, Orthopedics(Canada), a designation awarded to specialists on Orthopedics.

In 2009 Dr.Oliphant was awarded with a Masters Degree In Musculoskeletal Managment from RMIT University, Melbourne Australia.Dr Oliphant did his masters degree research on lumbar intervertebral disc injuries. His thesis was entitled “Identification of acute, induced, concentric annular tears with diffusion-weighted MRI.”His research includes publications in Clinical Biomechanics, Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and presentations at the Canadian Orthopedic Association conference, and the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) conference in Portugal, 2004.

Dr Oliphant has practiced in Calgary for over 20 years and is an authorized WCB provider and has testified as an expert witness at Court of Queens Bench in personal injury cases.
Dr Oliphant himself suffered chronic low back pain and sciatica for many years following a motor vehicle accident in which he herniated his L5 disc, eventually necessitating 11/2 years off work. He finally got long-term relief of his low back pain and sciatica with the DRX 9000 non-surgical spinal decompression therapy machine, and brought the DRX 9000 and DRX 9000C to Calgary, being the first clinic in Western Canada to provide this treatment. Since then his clinic, Alberta Back and Neck Rehab, has performed approximately 5,000 decompression treatments.

 Dr.Brian Reive

 

Dr. Brian Reive graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland Oregon, and practiced in the U.S for two years prior to starting at Alberta Back and Neck Rehab. He was first certified in ART (Active Release Technique), a treatment for muscle/tendon injuries such as tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and repetitive injuries, in 2000. Dr. Reive is also a licensed medical technologist, previously employed at Foothills Hospital Chemistry lab, and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in Alberta for two years prior to attending Chiropractic College. He is able to draw on his extensive background to provide the best treatment possible for your musculo-skeletal conditions.  Dr Reive also has extensive experience in non-surgical spinal decompression and cold laser therapy.

  Dr.Rob Lau

 

Dr. Robert Lau graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri.  Dr. Lau is a native Calgarian who has been practicing chiropractic since 2001.  Besides chiropractic, Dr. Lau makes extensive use of modalities such as interferential therapy, trigger point therapy, activator, cold laser therapy and spinal decompression.  To help you alleviate your pain and suffering, Dr. Lau is available exclusively in the evenings and weekends.  Taking care of all your musculoskeletal needs is Dr. Lau's speciality.








 Sarah

Sarah MacDonald spent her years growing up playing a variety of sports focusing mainly on soccer. After repeated injuries and many treatments she chose a career in Massage Therapy. She believes in having a good balance in life which she has found through practising yoga over the last year. She graduated in 2007 from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, a 2200hr course here in Calgary, where she was born and raised. She has many interests and always wants to learn more. She has her first level in Hawaiian massage: Lomi Lomi, the first level in Cranial Sacral therapy and has started a Nutrition course, to give her more tools to treat each client as she sees fit.


Chris

 

 

Chris English graduated from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in Regina, Saskatchewan in 2004 after completing the 2 year full time program (2600hrs).  The focus of his work has been the treatment of soft tissue injuries from sports, accident, MVA, and post surgical patients.  Chris believes that the correction of soft tissue dysfunction includes not only the release of the affected tissues but also the rehabilitation, strengthening and maintenance of the affected areas.    He will complete is training as a Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association in April of 2010, so he can have a wider scope of influence on the recovery process of his patients.  In the past Chris has competed at a provincial level in a variety of sports but has a special love for fitness training, martial arts and grappling.  He has had the privilege to provide massage for amateur and professional athletes, and a wide range of wonderful people through his career.  Chris believes in whole body wellness and a multi disciplinary approach to achieving that wellness.

 

   Lisa

 

 

Lisa Groat began her career in massage therapy upon graduating from the 2200 hour program at the Professional Institute of Massage Therapy in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2006. She relocated to Jasper, AB where she treated a multitude of soft-tissue and work related injuries thanks to the focus on outdoor living and the mountain friendly lifestyle. Whiplash, TMJ, Low back pain, IT Band Syndrome and Plantar Fascitis were a few of the conditions she treated regularly. She remained in Jasper for over 3 years until recently moving to Calgary. She enjoys the outdoors and such things as hiking, camping, skiing and yoga to unwind. She has also completed her Hot/Cold Stone Massage Course; and recently Myofascial Cupping. She looks forward to furthering her knowledge in the field to better assist each client she treats.

Sherry joined the family here at Alberta Back and Neck Rehab in May of 2008 as a personal trainer and doctors assistant. She has a personal training certification from Can-Fit-Pro and has helped many clients to attain their fitness goals while working in a gym. Sherry enjoys working with the unique equipment available here at the clinic and loves seeing the transformation in her patients as they discover life without pain.

 Cheryl

 

Cheryl has been with the clinic since shortly after we opened our doors. Cheryl has been associated with Dr Oliphant for over 20 years. She’s the person who knows everything that goes on in the clinic and is the go-to person for administrative functions. She not only does radio spots for the clinic but is also the friendly face behind the counter greeting our patients as they enter.
